Our primary purpose in breeding is to advance our own line of AKC conformation show dogs. Breeding pairs are thoughtfully chosen from top conformation pedigrees to complement and balance each other in an effort to advance the breed. We don't follow one particular puppy raising protocol but use an eclectic approach that is informed by various breeders and trainers including Puppy Culture, Dr. Carmen Battaglia, and Sophia Yin. At minimum our puppies are exposed to children of various ages, multiple adult dogs, cats, loud noises, car rides, and will be fully groomed several times. We follow an early neurological stimulation (ENS) protocol from ages 3 to 16 days old, provide litter boxes as soon as they're mobile to begin the house training process, teach them how to sit and come when called, and begin crate training at around 5 weeks old. We work with a local trainer to conduct the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test at 7 weeks old to help us determine what individualized attention is needed and to match puppies with prospective homes. Conformation evaluations are done at 8 weeks to determine which puppies are future show prospects and which will be placed in companion homes. We send our puppies home at 10 weeks old to give them as much time learning from their mama as possible while still giving them a couple of weeks to adjust to their new families while still in their primary socialization period. All of our puppies tails are docked to appropriate show length, have dew claws removed, have been dewormed, and have their first set of shots in a normal recommended vaccination schedule when they leave us.
We are a very small hobby breeding program and only have about one litter of puppies a year. If you are interested in a puppy from one of our future litters please fill out an application form. We do not accept deposits until a pregnancy is confirmed by ultrasound. Once a pregnancy is confirmed and your application has been approved, we require a $500 deposit to reserve a puppy. The deposit is nonrefundable unless we are unable to provide a puppy from the desired litter of the sex and color indicated. If you would rather not make a deposit you are free to contact us when a litter is around seven or eight weeks olds to see if we have any puppies available.
2022 Litter
Fitz + Iris
We are currently expecting an upcoming litter of puppies at the end of January 2022 by AKC GCh. Safari's Speakeasy "Fitz" out of Ch. Lakeridge Nothing Gold Can Stay "Iris". We are so excited to have Fitz from Safari Standard Poodles as the sire for our 2022 litter of puppies. Safari has 50 years of experience breeding outstanding standard poodles. Fitz is absolutely gorgeous, exceptionally sound, and has a happy, friendly temperament. Iris is our pretty, petite girl and she has a mellow, laidback temperament. Both parents have fantastic pedigrees and we think this is going to be a really wonderful litter of puppies. A link to Iris's pedigree and OFA record can be found here.
